About Prof. Mori
Prof. Ikue Mori is the Distinguished Investigator at the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR). She is renowned for her pioneering work in deciphering the molecular, cellular and neural circuit mechanisms of thermotaxis behavior in C. elegans. She was the Founding Director of the Neuroscience Institute and a Professor of Molecular Neurobiology at the Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University, Japan. Her distinguished career has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Tokizane Award in 2013, the most prestigious neuroscience award in Japan, and the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 2017 from the Japanese government.
Job Description:
To lead an independent research project under the guidance of Prof. Mori, focusing on the neuronal basis underlying behavior in C. elegans.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute research projects addressing fundamental questions in neurobiology.
- Utilize and develop techniques in molecular genetics, microscopy, and behavioral analysis.
- Analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication in international journals, and present findings at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to lab management and provide guidance to junior lab members.
Qualifications:
- A (recent) Ph.D. or expected soon in Neuroscience, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- A strong background in one or more of the following: molecular biology, live-cell imaging, neurogenetics, or C. elegans research.
- Highly motivated, independent, and creative, with a strong passion for scientific discovery.
- A proven record of research achievement, as evidenced by first-author publication(s) or strong pre-prints.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in English (scientific writing and verbal communication).
