Gender equality, inclusion and diversity are organizational priorities for the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS). Scientists from diverse backgrounds face unique challenges in Japan. To empower these voices, JNS encourages and promotes participation, accessibility, and leadership from all the members, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, disability, age, and religion. Furthermore, JNS promotes an environment that is supportive for all the diverse groups.
To achieve gender equality in the field of neurosciences, JNS jointed “The Japan Inter-Society Liaison Association Committee for Promoting Equal Participation of Men and Women in Science and Engineering (EPMEWSE)” (established 2002), a federation of science and engineering societies and associations in 2005. In the same year, we have established the “Gender Equality Preparatory Committee” within the Enlarged Executive Committee, which have been promoted into the “the Diversity Promotion Committee” in 2017.
JNS promotes gender equality, inclusion, and diversity through the following activities.
