Division of Sensory and Cognitive Brain Mapping (PI: Professor Hiromasa Takemura;
https://www.nips.ac.jp/scbm/en/) is a laboratory launched at National Institute for Physiological Sciences, Japan and focuses on studying structure-function relationships of the brain using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Takemura Laboratory invites applications for postdoctoral researchers.
1) Research topic
The applicant is expected to promote research on brain imaging using MRI. Specifically, we are looking for applicants who can perform research along one of the following topics: (i) high-resolution structural and/or functional brain mapping using 7T MRI system, (ii) cognitive neuroscience studies on sensory or language processing in the human brain, and (iii) structural and/or anatomical brain mapping studies on human or non-human primate brains.
National Institute of Physiological Sciences houses 7T and 3T MRI facilities fully dedicated for research. The laboratory houses a setup for human behavioral experiments including visual psychophysics.

4) Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be scheduled to complete the degree until the starting date.
A prior experience on neuroimaging studies is not necessary, but successful candidates are expected to be experienced in coding in MATLAB and/or Python. Applications from candidates who have research experience in a related field, such as psychophysics, electrophysiology, and neuroanatomy, are encouraged.
5) Appointment period
The position is initially offered for 1 year, with the possibility of extension up to 3 years in total, based upon evaluation.
6) Salary and benefits

10) Selection procedure
