The RIKEN CBS Lab for Circuit and Behavioral Physiology is looking for several highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to collect and analyze high-density recording of neuronal activity to examine the interactions of neurons across brain regions during memory consolidation and recall. We have multiple postdoc openings for both experimental and computational scientists. Applicants for experimental positions should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field with a background including electrophysiological experience, optogenetic experience, analysis of neural spike train data, and knowledge of the neurobiology of memory. Candidates with direct experience of multi-channel recordings from the CNS, software programming and/or electrical engineering expertise for both data analysis and device control and experience of behavioral training of mice will be most competitive. Those applying to the computational position should hold a strong interest in learning and memory and hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science, Math, Physics) and training in machine learning. Proficiency in programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python) is necessary. All applicants must be comfortable working in an international setting where the primary language of communication is English. Finally, one position will contribute to a 3-year collaborative project with the University of Bristol, jointly funded by UKRI (BBSRC) and the Japan Society for Promotion of Science.
