The Torii and Hashimoto-Torii laboratories (
https://www.toriihashimoto.org/) at the Center for Neuroscience Research at Children’s National Research Institute are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who are interested in brain development.
Our laboratories carry out basic research to understand how genetic and environmental factors regulate key processes, such as cell type specification, migration, and functional neural circuit formation and refinement, in brain development. Using animal models of autism, epilepsy, Gestational Diabetes, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, we also aim at translating our findings from basic research into medical applications.
To study brain development and function at the molecular, cellular, neurophysiological, and behavioral levels, we utilize various cutting-edge tools and technologies, including in vivo gene manipulation and imaging, genome editing, iPS cells and cortical organoid, AI and machine learning, and bioinformatics analyses of data from human cohorts.

Children’s National Research Institute (CNRI,
https://childrensnational.org/research-and-education/about-cri) is the academic arm of Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. Research at CNRI is highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary, and includes all basic, translational, and clinical studies. CNRI also oversees the educational activities and academic affairs of Children’s National Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Candidates should have attained, or will soon attain, a PhD or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Developmental Biology or other related fields. Individuals with prior experience in electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, and neurobiology are particularly encouraged to apply.
