Postdoctoral Research Associates in Departments of Biology
and Psychology at University of Virginia
The Cang lab (https://uva.theopenscholar.com/cang-lab
) in the Departments of Biology and Psychology at the University of Virginia seeks two (2) Postdoctoral Research Associates to study the function, organization, and development of the mammalian visual system.
The Cang lab use both mice and tree shrews as animal models and take an integrative approach that combines in vivo physiology, two-photon imaging, viral, genetic, genomic, behavioral, and computational techniques. These postdoctoral fellows will (1) take a leading role in ongoing studies of cell-type-specific visual processing and development in mice; and/or (2) lead the efforts to establish tree shrews as a model to study circuit mechanisms of visually-guided behaviors. The successful candidates will be self-motivated, capable of working independently and with others, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have experience in at least one of the following areas: electrophysiology (in vivo or in slices), 2-photon imaging, circuit tracing, genomics, and animal psychophysics. Salary will follow the NIH stipend guideline (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-21-049.html
). The earliest start date is June 1st, 2021, and these positions will remain open until filled.
QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in Neuroscience or a related area is required by the start date of the appointment. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in one of the following areas, electrophysiology, 2-photon imaging, circuit tracing, genomics, and animal psychophysics.
